Montreal Spring Digital launches “IA & Toi”: a free program to introduce young Quebecers to artificial intelligence.

As artificial intelligence rapidly transforms the way we learn, create, and communicate, Montreal Digital Spring unveils IA & Toi, a brand-new, completely free educational platform designed to empower young people and help them become informed digital citizens.

In a context where AI is becoming an integral part of students’ daily lives, often without them fully understanding how it works, IA & Toi offers a concrete and inclusive response to one of the major challenges of our time: equipping future generations to think, create, and act critically in a constantly evolving digital world.

Integrating IA & Toi into the school curriculum means contributing to reducing digital inequalities

A 2024 KPMG study shows that 59% of Canadian students use generative AI for their schoolwork and that 67% believe they are learning less by relying on it (source: KPMG). This finding highlights the lack of digital literacy, particularly in remote areas and Indigenous communities that are already disadvantaged by the digital divide.

IA & Toi aims to address this need by providing young people with the tools to understand AI, question its impact on their daily lives, and develop critical thinking skills about algorithms and the flow of information.

“Artificial intelligence is redefining our future at a rapid pace. At Montreal Digital Spring, we firmly believe it is our responsibility to provide young Quebecers with the tools to understand this transformation, develop their critical thinking, and become active, responsible digital citizens. ‘IA & Toi’ is our concrete response to this challenge: an accessible and stimulating program that equips young people to not only adapt to the AI era but also thrive within it. We are proud to launch this crucial initiative for the future of our youth and of Quebec,” said Caroline Roy, Chair of the Board of Montreal Digital Spring.

An innovative and engaging journey

Designed to be flexible and dynamic, the program offers:

  • Interactive modules to understand how generative AI works
  • Hands-on workshops to create digital content (text, images, music, video)
  • Activities that promote critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity

The program culminates with the IA & Toi challenge: students create a digital avatar of a historical Quebec figure, explore their cultural heritage, and participate in a provincial competition with prizes to be won.

A catalyst for digital inclusion on a national scale

Supported by the fourth phase of the federal CodeCan initiative, IA & Toi addresses government priorities in digital education and specifically aims to equip youth from underrepresented groups. In February 2025, Canada invested $39.2 million to support 22 organizations, includingMontreal Digital Spring, providing 1.6 million opportunities for AI and digital literacy training to students and teachers.

By specifically targeting underrepresented groups, IA & Toi serves as a tool for equal opportunity, ensuring access to digital skills even in more vulnerable or remote communities.
