Launch of a Global Call for Red Lines on Artificial Intelligence at the UN General Assembly

Press Release – For Immediate Release

Montreal, September 26, 2025 – More than 200 leading figures — including Nobel and Turing laureates, former heads of state, and ministers — as well as around fifty international organizations, are launching the Global Call for Red Lines on Artificial Intelligence. Presented on the occasion of the 80th United Nations General Assembly, this initiative aims to encourage governments to agree, by 2026, on international red lines to prevent universally unacceptable risks associated with AI development.

Signatories include economists Joseph Stiglitz and Daron Acemoğlu, AI researchers Yoshua Bengio and Geoffrey Hinton, Mary Robinson (former President of Ireland), Enrico Letta (former Italian Prime Minister), Csaba Kőrösi (77th President of the UN General Assembly), and Mehdi Benboubakeur, co-founder and CEO of Printemps numérique.

“Digital innovation must first and foremost serve humanity — to build an inclusive, ethical, and sustainable future. Today, we share a collective responsibility: to establish clear guidelines so that AI serves the common good, rather than becoming a source of global instability,” said Mehdi Benboubakeur, co-founder and CEO of Printemps numérique.

A Global Mobilization

The Global Call for Red Lines on AI is organized by CeSIA (French Center for AI Safety), the Center for Human-Compatible AI (UC Berkeley), and The Future Society, in partnership with over 50 civil society organizations.

As a partner in this campaign, Printemps numérique is committed to raising awareness and mobilizing support for this international initiative.
