During the Women in IT event of the Réseau Action TI on June 7, Technocompétences unveiled the findings of the study on the place of women in the IT industry in Quebec.

  • Finding # 1: Industries are relatively young and present opportunities for progress and growth because they value initiative and innovation.
  • Finding # 2: The schedule flexibility allows for a work-life balance, though this can be counterbalanced by a strong performance culture.
  • Finding # 3: Coaching and mentoring are available to some women, but there is no formal process for this practice.
  • Finding # 4: The work environment is generally positive (collaboration, commitment, development, respect) but difficulties sometimes arise with clients.
  • Finding # 5: Training is encouraged, career development is valued, but it remains informal and employee-driven.
  • Finding # 6: Female role models are limited to those in decision-making positions and are perceived as having a “male” profile.
  • Finding # 7: The public discourse on the inclusion of women (and minority groups) is not always reflected in existing organizational practices.
