From October 6 to 8, 2025, Printemps num\u00e9rique<\/strong><\/a> hosted a Digital Caf\u00e9<\/strong> at Louis-Joseph-Papineau High School<\/em> in Montr\u00e9al\u2019s Saint-Michel neighborhood, offering three days of workshops and immersive experiences to senior high school students and their teachers. The event aimed to develop young people\u2019s digital skills, spark their creativity, and encourage critical thinking about digital technology.<\/p>\n The Digital Caf\u00e9<\/strong> is a signature activity of Printemps num\u00e9rique<\/strong>, dedicated to promoting digital literacy in Qu\u00e9bec<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Designed as a space for discovery, experimentation, and dialogue, the concept aims to equip young people to become creative, critical, and responsible digital citizens<\/strong>.<\/p>\n This edition at Louis-Joseph-Papineau continues a long-standing collaboration between Printemps num\u00e9rique and the school, particularly with Myllene Caetano Alves<\/strong>, Multimedia Arts teacher. Through this partnership, many youth from the Saint-Michel neighborhood are introduced to the challenges of digital creation and transformation in an educational and inspiring environment.<\/p>\n Held in the school auditorium, the \u201cIA & Toi<\/b><\/a>\u201d workshop offered an accessible and playful introduction to how artificial intelligence (AI) works and the issues it raises.<\/p>\n As part of the ” D\u00e9fi IA & Toi<\/span><\/a>“<\/strong>, students worked in teams to create and personalize a digital version of the historical figure Louis-Joseph Papineau<\/strong> using Sora<\/strong>, an AI tool. This experience helped them better understand the challenge\u2019s themes \u2014 digital responsibility<\/strong>, collaboration<\/strong>, and ethical reflection<\/strong> surrounding AI use.<\/p>\n Set up in the school\u2019s entrance hall, the 360\u00b0 dome<\/strong> provided a unique visual and sensory experience. Students discovered future careers in digital arts and creation<\/strong>, attended 360\u00b0 art film screenings<\/strong>, and watched a video capsule<\/strong> they co-produced, showcasing their creative experience with AI.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was my first time inside a dome, and I thought it was really fun! The AI workshop made me want to sign up for AI & You<\/em> as soon as I get home. I\u2019d love to take the training and join the contest to create a historical avatar. I really like creating images with ChatGPT and want to get better at it.\u201d \u201cThe workshops in the Dome really piqued students\u2019 curiosity. Those already interested in digital creation recognized themselves in the artistic content, which was very stimulating for them. Playing with images and transforming them with AI, like in the AI & You<\/em> workshop, is something many already do \u2014 but not always the right way. It\u2019s important to offer training that addresses AI\u2019s limits, its negative uses, and more responsible ways to use it. We\u2019d benefit from offering more creative activities like these!\u201d On the evening of Wednesday, October 8<\/strong>, families were invited to explore the 360\u00b0 dome<\/strong> and see the students\u2019 work during the school\u2019s open house event<\/strong>. This initiative, organized in collaboration with the school, helped extend the educational impact of the Digital Caf\u00e9 and strengthen ties between the institution, parents, and the community.<\/p>\n The success of this Digital Caf\u00e9<\/strong> edition at Louis-Joseph-Papineau High School marks a promising return of the initiative for the 2025\u20132026 school year<\/strong>.
