Montreal, November 9, 2023\u00a0–\u00a0<\/strong>Digital Youth Month<\/a>\u00a0(DYM) celebrates its 5th anniversary in 2024! From\u00a0February 1 to March 8<\/strong>, young people and the general public will discover numerous\u00a0Quebec initiatives in digital literacy<\/strong>\u00a0and be introduced to the fields of the future.\u00a0Montreal Digital Spring<\/a>\u00a0(Printemps num\u00e9rique), the initiator of the event, is inviting institutions, schools, organizations and businesses to\u00a0become collaborators<\/strong>\u00a0by presenting their digital activities and resources on the www.mnj.quebec platform.<\/p>\n Under the theme\u00a0TOGETHER FOR EQUITABLE ACCESS<\/strong><\/em>, young people and all those who support them are invited to take part in this festive edition.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n “Over the past five years, Digital Youth Month has firmly connected Quebec’s youth to the many opportunities offered by the digital universe. My role on the committee has shown me the importance of such an initiative, which enables young people to discover fields of the future, as well as a multitude of local activities and resources.”<\/em><\/p>\n St\u00e9phanie Jecrois<\/strong>, co-founder and general manager of\u00a0Technovation Montr\u00e9al<\/a>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n “Our participation in Digital Youth Month broadened CyberCap’s horizons in terms of collective digital intelligence, reinforcing inclusivity, creativity and innovation in our projects. This pooling of knowledge was also an opportunity to preview an online workshop, highlighting our expertise in socio-professional integration at the service of educational success, opening up new opportunities for young people’s futures.”\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n Marie-Astrid Dubant<\/strong>, general manager of\u00a0CyberCap<\/a>.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n <\/p>\n In addition to programming activities to support young people’s skills, DYM puts forward an annual awareness campaign on digital issues. In 2023, the theme of ONLINE PRIVACY raised awareness among more than\u00a025,000 young people<\/strong>\u00a0(see\u00a0DYM 2023 Report<\/a>\u00a0– in French).<\/p>\n Last year, Montreal Digital Spring inaugurated its\u00a0\u201cEmpreinte num\u00e9rique<\/a>\u201d<\/em>\u00a0podcast (only available in French), giving teenagers the opportunity to express their views on privacy issues. Building on its success, the podcast has been renewed for a new season, offering young people a chance to express themselves and stay informed. Today, being “plugged in” is no longer limited to access to computer equipment; young people feel the need to master the codes of digital culture. Algorithms and digital sobriety are topical subjects that are important for their future, and they will be able to discuss them in the company of specialists.<\/p>\n “TOGETHER FOR EQUITABLE ACCESS – this is the credo of Digital Spring. Our ambition? To guarantee equal opportunities by democratizing access to new technologies and equipping young people with the skills they need to fully exploit their resources.
